In the 1930s, skiing was a fairly new sport and mostly still only a hobby for the elite. Switzerland's St. Moritz had already become a destination for aristocrats and Albert Fouquet also visited there in winter to ski.
Once in Paris, Fouquet had received an invitation to visit the home of his friend Nicolas, where he met a charming tailor from Megève, in southeastern France. The tailor used to travel to Paris every year to meet his best customers and make high-quality ski suits for them. The tailor told Fouquet about the magnificence of the Megève region, as well as the exceptionally high-quality skiing center built by Baron Maurice de Rotcschild.
A few months later, Fouquet received an invitation to a dinner organized by Nicolas in Megève. These Nicolas dinner parties were particularly sought-after events among the French elite. Each dinner was different and the invited guests were chosen very carefully; diplomats, businessmen, intellectuals, elegant women, young artists.
Fouquet spent the first day in Megève enjoying skiing. As evening fell, the most magical evening of his life began. Arriving at the party, Fouquet saw a tall, naturally beautiful and elegantly behaved woman in a black dress. The young Austrian banker's daughter was the most beautiful woman Fouquet had ever seen. Her name was Annicke.
Albert Fouquet spent an unforgettable evening with Annicke, talking by the fire, laughing and dancing. They promised to meet again in the coming months.
Returning to Paris, Fouquet wanted to hold on to the memories of that evening. From the fresh smell of mountain air, the atmosphere of a secret dinner party and the aroma of wood burning in the fireplace. He created a fragrance called "An Evening in Megève",
Nuit de Megève.
