Denim repair and hemming services are expertly handled at INCH" denim repair service in the center of Tampere. We perform various denim repairs, replace broken zippers, and hem jean legs using an old-school Union Special machine. Denim Repair INCH" Tampere 

Jeans were originally developed as durable workwear, and like all products, they wear out with extensive use and require repairs. Generally, the greatest stress is placed on the crotch of the jeans, which is in constant motion with walking. Repairing the crotch of jeans is by far the most common repair.

The price for repairing the crotch of jeans is 35€. 

Other common denim repair needs include pocket bags of side pockets, denim fabric worn through at the thighs near the pockets, knees, and the attachment points of the upper corners of the back pockets. These are areas that can experience significant stress during use. Also, the attachment of belt loops can fail if the jeans are pulled up by them.

Denim patching costs 20€ per patch.

Jean zippers also encounter heavy stress and frequent use, so they may need to be replaced occasionally. 

The price for replacing a jean zipper is 40€.

Jean Hemming – INCH" Tampere

We hem jeans using an old Union Special chain stitch machine, which is a piece of Finnish denim history. The machine originally came from the factory of the legendary Beavers denim brand. 

If possible, we recommend wearing new jeans for about two weeks before hemming. This allows the pants to adapt to your body, and hemming the legs to the correct length will be significantly more precise. 

The minimum hem for jeans is approximately two inches / five centimeters.

Hemming jeans costs 30€. If the jeans were purchased from an INCH" store, you get the hemming at half price, i.e., 15€.

  • Jeans purchased from INCH" must be found in customer data, or alternatively, you can present a receipt of purchase.

How do I bring jeans in for repair / hemming?

  1. Bring your jeans to the INCH” MEN store in Tampere. For hygiene reasons, we only accept washed jeans for repair services.
  2. The repair/alteration fee will be charged when the jeans are received. You will receive a receipt for the work order via email.
  3. Our expert will provide an estimate for the repair time, which varies depending on the repair queue. Please be prepared for a wait of several weeks.
  4. You will be notified by email when your jeans are ready for pickup.

Should jeans be washed before bringing them in for repair / hemming?

Yes, for hygiene reasons, we only accept washed jeans for our Denim Repair Service.

Do you also alter/shorten jeans from brands not represented by the INCH" store?

Yes, we repair and shorten jeans of all high-quality brands!

The very softest stretch denim qualities may not be repairable. Additionally, even high-quality jeans sometimes reach the end of their lifespan and are no longer repairable. Our experts will advise you free of charge in these situations!

How long does it take to repair jeans in Tampere?

Repair times vary depending on the queue, but generally, they are between one and three weeks.

During summer and towards the end of the year, repair times are usually a bit longer than normal.

The repair queue for complimentary Nudie Jeans repairs is typically about four to eight weeks.

Will the repair be unnoticeable?

External repairs to jeans are always visible. They could even be described as rustic!

Patch fabrics and thread color are primarily chosen to match the shade of the jeans. If you want more contrast in the repair, you can request this from our expert when you bring your jeans in for repair!

Can jeans with stretch fibers be repaired/shortened?

Generally, high-quality 100% cotton denim fabrics are best suited for repair and hemming.

Denim qualities containing stretch fibers can also generally be repaired and hemmed without problems. However, the softest fabric qualities can be challenging to work with.

Can a zipper be replaced in jeans?

Yes, zipper replacement for jeans is among our basic services and costs €40.
