Heti ensimmäisenä Marimekko-vuotenaan 1953 Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi loi Piccolon, vapain siveltimenvedoin maalatun raitakankaan. Kolme vuotta myöhemmin kauppoihin ja katukuvaan ilmestyi – ilmeisesti pysyvästi – kankaasta tehty paita nimeltään Jokapoika.
